San Diego State professors are reaching out overseas to help rebuild the curricula of a university in Afghanistan.

The professors are working with Interwork Institute, which is a program funded by the SDSU Research Foundation. Currently, the program helps faculty at Nangarhar University in Afghanistan to develop a four-year English language program and reform the outdated engineering program.

The Ministry of Higher Education in Afghanistan is funding the project through a $4 million grant issued to them by the World Bank.

A message from San Diego State to prospective transfer students: Come back next fall.

The state of California has slashed the education budget by 10 percent, a move that has universities such as SDSU and CSU San Marcos closing the door on transfer students for the spring of 2009.

Community college students who were expecting to attend SDSU this spring are now just spinning their wheels.
